An opportunityhas arisen for a motivated, conscientious Staff Nurse to join our dynamicteam on the Respiratory/High Care Ward on Ward 5. Ward 5 is a 23bedded respiratory ward caring for patients with a variety of respiratoryissues, which at times can be complex and can involve other specialist input.The Ward Level 2/1 area delivers Non InvasiveVentilation (NIV)/Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) in a 4 beddedhigh care area.
We require a positive minded, dedicated professional tojoin our friendly and hardworking team. Experience in managing respiratorypatients is an advantage however, experience in caring for medical patients isdesirable to work in our established team. You will be vital in the delivery ofhigh quality care. The post holder will be required to work a shift patterncovering days, nights and weekends. Training opportunities and a link nurse role will be available to help develop your skills.
Using your clinical experience and skills you will work withyour team as a named nurse to maintain accountability forassessing, planning, implementing and evaluatingprogrammes of care within the framework of team nursing.
Acting with compassion you will put patients at the centre ofall you do.
You will communicate effectively with patients and theircarers regarding their care and educate patients where thereis a need.
You will communicate effectively with the multidisciplinaryteam to ensure high quality patient care.

This role will require you to work variable hours in order tofulfil the needs of the ward.

You will develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.

You will contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards. You will participate in handling complaints in accordance with Trust policy.
You will maintain a safe clean ward environment and ensure all appropriate general risk assessments are carried out within 24 hours of admission and documentand plan care accordingly e.g. manual handling, pressure risks, slips trips and falls, nutrition, safeguarding.
You will show an awareness of budgeting, exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment.
You will assist in the assessment of staffing requirements, reporting problems to the appropriate manager.
In the absence of a more senior member of staff and as part of your development programme, with support, will be able to undertake clinical / shift managementwithin the department.
