Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our small & friendly team on Walrus Ward.

Walrus Ward is open Monday – Friday, 07:30-19:30, and cares for patients undergoing Cardiac investigations/procedures as day cases, as well as Pre-admissions for Cardiac Surgery. We see 12-18 patients daily in our 6-bed unit, requiring staff to be dynamic, enthusiastic, and quick-thinking.

Main duties of the job

Clinical: To provide high-quality nursing care for children, young people, and their families. To plan, assess, implement, and evaluate care programs and supervise staff accordingly.

Managerial: To supervise and support ward team members, ensuring appropriate care and that treatments prescribed by medical staff are executed. To inform multidisciplinary team members of any changes in patient conditions.

Educational: To actively assist in the education and training of learners and junior staff, collaborating with universities to uphold professional standards.
