Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band nurse to join our nurse-led unit at Swindon Renal Unit. Our unit provides outpatient services including haemodialysis, home dialysis, renal, and transplant clinics for patients in Swindon and surrounding areas. It is a satellite unit of the Oxford Kidney Unit.

The unit is closed on Sundays, Christmas, and New Year's Day. It operates Monday to Saturday with no night shifts. Twilight shifts are scheduled until midnight on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide and maintain high standards of care for patients receiving renal replacement therapy and attending outpatient clinics or treatments related to renal failure.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients on maintenance haemodialysis.
  • Act as the coordinator of the clinical area on a daily basis, sometimes in the absence of senior staff.
  • Supervise and teach new staff, renal course students, renal care assistants, and pre-registration students, contributing to junior staff development.
