JOB SUMMARY

To provide a high standard of individualised patient care reflecting individual competencies and education that involves relatives/carers as appropriate. To be responsible for the nursing care of a defined group of patients. To assist in the management and organisation of the nursing service in the clinical area including the teaching and management of more junior staff or those in training.

JOB PURPOSE

As a registered, accountable and autonomous nurse to act in the best interests of your patients at all times and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions. To be responsible for patient assessment, planning of care, implementing and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care. As an NMC registrant facilitate learning and development of others. You will demonstrate leadership qualities and be open, transparent and trustworthy. As a Trust employee act with integrity and uphold the values and beliefs of the Trust and the NMC Code of Conduct.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Band 5 Staff Nurse

Same Day Emergency Care

Full time/Part time/ Fully Flexible

Temporary fixed term contract

Do you have a genuine interest in working in an up and coming area of the Emergency Floor? Same Day Emergency (SDEC) unit is looking for highly motivated, forward thinking and enthusiastic staff nurse to join us. You need to be passionate about providing high quality, emergency same day care in this fast paced, evolving and exciting area of acute emergency care. You must have excellent communication skills and be excited about being part of an innovative nursing team.

The Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit works as part of the Emergency Floor as an assessment and treatment area to facilitate admission avoidance. We see patients from the Emergency Department; GP’s referring into Speciality teams and other clinical areas of the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The service runs 7 days a week but is not open overnight.

This band 5 role provides a real opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge base in all specialties while being supported by a senior and experienced team. This is the perfect place to hone your assessment skills in a friendly and supportive environment whilst developing good working relationships in a relaxed and enjoyable working environment.
