The role involves cross-site work and development of phlebotomy skills within the team. Under the supervision of the Band 7 manager you will help ensure efficient clinic operation, maintain patient safety, and contribute to a high quality

An exciting opportunity to work as a Band 5 staff nurse in the Main out patients and Earl of Scarbrough Suite you will be working with other Band 5 RN's and our team of Band 3 HCSW's along with supporting the clinicians that hold clinics in the department we also provide a phlebotomy service 5 days per week for the whole hospital. We are a constantly evolving department and are looking at ways to enhance the patient journey through our department from receiving friends and family feedback and changing the ways that we work to putting the patient first and providing a bespoke phlebotomy service provided by the nursing staff as required as a registered nurse your role is to support the nursing services manager to deliver a high quality service to all our users across both OPD are as the role will involve working across various specialities including satellite clinics from Sheffield Weston Park hospital. There is opportunities for you to develop phlebotomy skills and support our phlebotomy services provided in OPD. Under the supervision of the Band 7 manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the clinics are running efficiently and all staff members are aware of their role whilst working in clinic.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality, safe patient care by assessment of patient needs whilst in the department. Organise and monitor the work and performance of junior colleagues providing constructive feedback, advice and on-going support. Assist in the management and organisation of work as required. Monitor progress of work within the unit, recognise changing priorities, implement corrective actions within own limits and inform the relevant people. Assume responsibility and management of the clinical environment as required. Take immediate and appropriate action in relation to adverse incident reporting utilising the hospital incident reporting system. Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area Take responsibility for own continuing professional development and maintenance of personal development plan, identifying own development needs. Communicate with people in an appropriate manner to ensure level of understanding incorporates preferred ways of communicating, culture and background. Effectively communicate complex and sensitive information. Ensure that essential information on the patients condition and progress is recorded by self and team members appropriately according to NMC guidelines.
