Job description

Mill Garth Hospital is a 21-bed high dependency recovery and rehabilitation hospital located in Meanwood, Leeds. We provide active and positive engagement for males aged 18 years and over, who experience a range of mental health disorders.

We are about to embark on an exciting journey as we develop two bespoke therapeutic service areas attached to the hospital. This expansion requires us to increase our nursing team, and we are now seeking dedicated registered nurses to join our dynamic and enthusiastic nurse leadership team.

Role Overview

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD), you will be part of an effective Multi-Disciplinary team. Your responsibilities include:

  • Promoting the best interests of clients and carers and ensuring prescribed nursing care is consistently implemented.
  • Maintaining a safe care environment, exercising professional judgment, accountability, and responsibilities.
  • Using your professional skills, knowledge, and expertise in a changing environment.
  • Working within the scope of professional practice.
Responsibilities
  1. Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
  2. Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care in collaboration with patients and their families, respecting patient choices and acting as the named nurse.
  3. Accurately observe and engage with patients to assess needs and evaluate progress.
  4. Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.
  5. Evaluate and respond to changes in patient conditions and needs.
  6. Handle suggestions and complaints proactively from patients and families.
  7. Contribute to a team approach to patient care alongside all members of the Multi-Disciplinary team.
  8. Participate in clinical and non-clinical meetings and attend other meetings as required.
  9. Prioritize nursing duties, delegate appropriately, and work as nurse in charge when needed, ensuring a safe environment.
  10. Maintain ongoing professional development in line with preceptorship and revalidation requirements.
  11. Develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, colleagues, and visitors, responding promptly and courteously.
  12. Promote an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients, relatives, and carers.
  13. Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice at least monthly.
  14. Undertake the role of Preceptor to newly qualified staff.
  15. Work in accordance with safeguarding policies and the Mental Health, Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Standards.
  16. Adhere to Medicines Management policies and Priory Group policies, and comply with the NMC code.
