A leading healthcare provider in Salford is seeking a qualified nurse to join Ward H2, specializing in respiratory patient care. The role involves a rotational shift pattern and opportunities for career development. Candidates must possess a current NMC PIN or be close to obtaining one. This position promotes a supportive work environment with flexible arrangements and training in respiratory skills.
Ward H2 is a 25-bedded unit, consisting of 3 bays and 13 side rooms. H2 provides care to patients with various respiratory needs, specialising in Non-Invasive Ventilation, Chest drains, CPAP, and Tracheostomy care.
We work closely with our wider teams, including Consultants, specialist nurses, and the NIV outreach team. Staff gain additional respiratory skills through bespoke training such as ear lobe blood gas sampling, chest drain management, venepuncture, and cannulation.
You will be a qualified nurse with experience in an acute setting and an interest in respiratory medicine. You should demonstrate high standards of care based on evidence-based practice. Respiratory experience is desirable but not essential, as training and development are supported through in-house competencies, study days, and mentorship from respiratory and emergency medicine clinicians, as well as ward band 6s and the ward manager.
All staff are encouraged to undertake the Advanced Life Support (ALS) course to enhance emergency management skills. You must be able to work as part of a team and independently, adhering to the NMC code of conduct. Good communication skills are essential.
The role involves a 24-hour rotational shift pattern, including days and nights, with flexible working arrangements available. There may be occasions when staff are moved to support the Emergency Village.
The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) serves over one million people across Greater Manchester, with a workforce of 20,000 colleagues providing hospital and community care in Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, and Salford. We are committed to high standards of care, collaboration, and making a difference through our core values: care, appreciate, and inspire.
We offer a role with purpose and flexibility, with opportunities for career development. Benefits include a competitive annual leave allowance, flexible working, and protected hours for wellbeing activities to support work-life balance.
This vacancy is open to those with a current NMC PIN or those enrolled in a course expecting to receive their full NMC PIN within 2-3 months. Please note, an NMC PRN PIN is not sufficient for this role. We are unable to accept applications from international nurses and midwives who have not completed all competencies for a full NMC PIN, as the OSCE programme is paused. For information on obtaining a full NMC PIN, visit the NMC website: https://www.nmc.org.uk/registration/joining-the-register/register-nurse-midwife/trained-outside-uk/how-to-guide/
