Job description

An exciting opportunity to join the pre-operative assessment team located at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

We provide optimisation for adult patients undergoing elective T&O, trauma, urology, general surgery, including breast and interventional radiology and gynaecology for up to 350 patients/week.

Main duties of the job

Undertaking, recording and processing a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing assessment for a diverse group of patients about to undergo elective Orthopaedic, Urological , General surgical and gynaecological surgery.

Undertake patient assessment without direct supervision. Is accountable for the information and care delivered and any omissions.

Request support and advice from senior team as appropriate.

Process information obtained, clear patient or make any ongoing referrals highlighted and follow-up results for a given group of patients.

Teach and supervise junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.

Accountable for care or any omissions of care that are delegated to others.

Act as role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Maintain and update knowledge and skills in line with NMC revalidation guidelines.
