Do you have extensive post-registration experience in a surgical and/or medical ward?

Pre-assessment personnel play a pivotal role in delivering safe and efficient pre-operative care by optimising patients for surgery.

Our service sees 20,000 patients a year, optimising their health to ensure they are at their best level of fitness prior to anaesthetic and surgery.

We support you through a supernumerary period of 4-6 weeks.

Important Dates

  • Interview date: 26/08/2025

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, including GPs and anaesthetists, to provide effective assessment ensuring our patients and their families/carers receive excellent preparation for surgical procedures.

It is an exciting time to join our service as we have transitioned into Epic. We have recently introduced a state-of-the-art digital preoperative assessment programme aimed at providing all our patients with the highest standard of surgical care. Our assessments are conducted face-to-face in the clinic and via telephone as required.

Our working days are Monday to Saturday from 0900-1900, with cross-site working between Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital.

Pre-assessment personnel will assess patients for specialties including ENT, Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular, Breast, Plastics, and general surgery, among others.

Once competencies are signed off, you will be expected to make autonomous decisions regarding your patients, while supporting the service, management, and colleagues.
