Job summary

The Christie Private Care in Manchester is seeking a Staff Nurse for Pre-Assessment to join a welcoming team. You will assess patients ahead of treatment, identify risks and coordinate safe pathways with consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

You will perform phlebotomy, ECGs, observations and wound care reviews, and participate in triage to determine when face-to-face reviews are needed. A strong patient-centred approach is essential.

Qualifications

• NMC registration as a qualified nurse and current registration with the nursing council is required.
• Experience in surgical nursing and pre-assessment or preoperative care is desirable.
• Competency in ECG recording and phlebotomy is essential.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive pre assessment appointments and clinical evaluations for patients undergoing treatment and surgery.
• Perform clinical duties including phlebotomy, ECGs, observations and wound care reviews.
• Conduct telephone triage assessments to determine need for face-to-face review.
• Liaise with consultants and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate safe patient pathways.
• Support service improvement, audits and patient feedback while maintaining high standards of patient-centred care.

Location: The Christie Private Care, Manchester

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent

What you'll do

What you'll bring

• Current NMC Registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Previous surgical nursing experience.
• Experience of pre assessment or preoperative care is desirable.
• Competency in ECG recording and phlebotomy.
• Excellent communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.
