Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse for the PICU at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. You will join a multidisciplinary team, responsible for assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care with training provided where needed.

Permanent position with rotational shifts 0730-2000 and 1930-0800; visa sponsorship may be available for eligible candidates. NHS benefits include pension, holidays and study support.

  • Registered Nurse with Part 8 or Part 15 on the NMC Register.
  • PICU experience desirable but not essential; training will be provided.

Job description

The Role

An opportunity has arisen within PICU for a Band 5 Staff Nurse. Previous PICU experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be offered to the successful candidate.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and during the pre‑employment verification process. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • This is a permanent position.
  • The post is based within PICU/Critical Care at the Royal Hospital of Children
  • You will work a rotational shift pattern of 07302000 and 19300800.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assessing patients' care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care. You will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, safe and effective patient care, working collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.

You will be expected to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills and contribute positively to the delivery of care within the Critical Care environment.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • Registered Nurse with Part 8 or Part 15 on the NMC Register.
  • Applicants registered under Part 1 of the NMC Register must be competent in caring for adult ICU patients.
  • Previous PICU experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
