Job description

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to the role of Staff Nurse within our Ocean Day Unit, situated within our Children's Outpatient department. This role is offered as a permanent position, working 22.5 hours per week across 3 rostered days.

If you would like to become part of a team delivering excellent care and take advantage of many opportunities available to you, we would like to meet you.

We can offer excellent educational opportunities, from in-house study courses to postgraduate education through Middlesex University.

To apply for this post, you must be passionate and committed to delivering high standards of care and ensure that all users of our services have a positive experience.

The Paediatric nursing team is part of the Integrated Children's Services at North Middlesex University Hospital and is part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

  1. The postholder will work under the direction of the Ward Manager - Children's Outpatients, with responsibility for assessing care needs for all patients, ensuring appropriately planned care is implemented and evaluated.
  2. The postholder is expected to work with minimal supervision and will be designated to work as part of the nursing team at North Middlesex University Hospital Trust.
  3. The postholder will provide care within the Ocean Day Unit without supervision to facilitate the prevention of admission or reduction in hospitalisation, and will act as an effective clinical support for students.
  4. The postholder will work as part of the Ocean Day Unit Nursing Team, supported by Band 5/6 Staff Nurses and the Band 7 Ward Manager.
  5. The postholder is expected to contribute to the assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence-based care to children and their families and carers, working collaboratively with other agencies to ensure a seamless service.

Circumstances may arise that require the postholder to assist in providing clinical cover across all areas of the paediatric unit.

North Mid is part of the North Central London integrated care system, collaborating closely with NHS and local authority organizations across Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey. While each organization remains a standalone statutory body, we have an ICS infrastructure for shared decision-making and approaches.

We pride ourselves on our staff and aim to ensure their training enables them to provide excellent clinical care. We are also a training site for medical students from UCL and St George’s University Grenada, and for nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex and City Universities.
