Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services.
Full time posts for Registered Nurses have opened up in Nightingale Ward. We are a team of dynamic and energetic nurses and nursing assistants who look after patients needing surgery under the General Surgery; Colorectal and Upper GI teams.
During periods of patient influx, we are trained and well supported into looking after Medicine, Plastics and Orthopaedics patients as well.
Our ward Nightingale Ward has a group of skilled experienced nurses and nurse specialists. They are a vibrant team of people who look out for each other as much as we do our patients.
We manage the emergency general surgical pathways and a variety of short stay benign cases. This involves complex pre and post op surgical and medical care, managing both the physical and psychological changes for our patients. We also follow enhanced recovery pathways to reduce the length of stay while maintaining a high standard of care to ensure a safe discharge. We work together with a large multidisciplinary team who all play a pivotal role in the care of our patients.

Applications are welcomed from applicants with a disability. We can make reasonable adjustments and offer support and advice in a variety of ways throughout the application process. Equality of opportunity is our policy.
As an organisation, we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.
We are committed to supporting all employees to achieve a healthy work-life balance and to work in a way that is best for them and our patients. We will consider all requests to work flexibly, taking into account the individual’s personal circumstances as well as the needs of the service.
