Band 5 Staff Nurse – Medical Short Stay Unit (MSSU), Wexham Park Hospital
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our dynamic Medical Short Stay Unit (MSSU) at Wexham Park Hospital. As part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Doctors, Nurses, Emergency Care Assistants, and Administrative Staff, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
In this role, you will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for a diverse patient group within a fast-paced environment. The MSSU provides short-term care and treatment for patients requiring acute medical attention, making it a rewarding and varied nursing setting.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Supervise, support, and mentor junior staff and nursing students, fostering a positive and educational ward culture.
Demonstrate sound clinical judgement and the ability to work autonomously when required.
Promote and uphold the highest standards of care and professional practice.

Main duties of the job
Provide clinical leadership for the assessment of patient needs, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, which are evidence based, utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, carers, and significant others.
>Provide clinical care to patients undergoing assessment and treatment
>Maintain records in line with NMC guidelines for records and record keeping.
>Practice within the Legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing & Midwifery Council(NMC)and national & local legislation to ensure patients interest and well being are met.
>Empower patients to take responsibility for their health , well-being and future lifestyle by practising in an open transparent and inclusive manner thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care.
>Promote and support innovation in clinical practice
>Undertake education and training specific to the clinical area.
> Demonstrate own professional development
> Support the Senior Charge Nurse in the affective management of resources including stores supplies, pharmacy and maintenance of equipment
