Job description


The SCFT East IV Therapy Service has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our team. We will welcome applications from newly qualified nurse to experienced nurses. Home IV Therapy has been proven to be a cost efficient way to treat patients while enhancing the patient experience. Our nurses are experts in the delivery of IV medication and in the management of patients with venous access devices. The service supports hospital discharges for patients requiring IV therapy treatments in the community; local oncology departments to assist with the management of treatments and facilitates GP referrals to avoid hospital admissions.

As well as delivering IV therapy to patients in the comfort of their own homes, you will also be working in our designated IV clinics.

The main duties of the role require a dynamic nurse withpreferredexperience. The nurses role includes IV administration, cannulation and care of all venous access devices. The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills, an aptitude good time management, and a desire to deliver the best service possible for our patients. In addition, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a sound clinical knowledge; be proficient in basic IT skills and hold a UK driving license with the use of a car for business purposes.

This role gives a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a community setting and work in a role delivering bespoke outstanding care in an outpatient clinic environment. Excellent communication skills are essential as the IV Service works closely with clinicians from both the acute and community settings to ensure safe and effective patient care.

The IV Service supports patient independence by teaching self-administration where appropriate enhancing the patient experience by allowing them to carry on with their lives and avoid the disruption that can be caused by a hospital admission.

You will be responsible for all aspects of IV administration and care of venous access devices and will need the clinical knowledge to manage holistic patient care effectively.

We are looking for a reliable, motivated, flexible member of staff with experience in intravenous therapy to join our small team. The post is full time but applicants for part time hours will be considered. The working day is 08:00 - 18:00 and you will be required to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis.
