Staff Nurse Interventional Radiology Day Case Unit

University Hospitals Dorset have an exciting opportunity to be a Staff Nurse as part of a small team providing support for Interventional Radiology patients in a newly created day care unit based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- To provide a high standard of quality care and patient experience without direct supervision across the IR day care unit.
- To practice autonomously (within the requirements of UHD and the NMC code of practice) and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person centred evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.
- Take charge of the unit in the absence of a more senior member of staff on a shift basis.
- To assist in the management and organisation of the IR Day Case Unit.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the on-going professional development of registered staff.
- To support the Trust strategy of delivering a quality healthcare service for patients and their families.
- To work within and to support the Trust objectives and the ward department philosophy and standards.

Job responsibilities

- Act as an effective role model by demonstrating effective organisational and leadership skills.
- Assess the needs and plan the care of patients, evaluating progress to ensure the care remains appropriate and facilitate colleagues in these processes.
- Understands and analyses patient clinical observations and records, taking or instigating appropriate action as necessary.

Qualifications
- oNMC Registered Adult Nurse
- oPost Registration course related to surgery or interventional radiology
- oBasic IT skills . oUtilisation of electronic documentation and reporting systems.
- oObtaining and analysing clinical data to recognise the deteriorating patient.
- oMedication and prescription management non-IV and IV medication and blood products
- oCalculation of drug doses for infusions requiring frequent concentration.
- oECG recording
- oEPMA
- oFamiliar with Ecamis, EPR. ICE
- oAble to retrieve relevant investigation results
Knowledge
- oDemonstrates the fundamentals of nursing care, knowledge, and practice skills.
- oNMC code of conduct
- oAwareness of patient experience, quality and safety agenda's that support Governance Frameworks
