Job description

The Staff Nurse is a registered nurse working as part of the Health Visiting Team, providing preventative and supportive health care to children and families in Wiltshire.

This includes the identification, monitoring, and provision of targeted support to vulnerable children and those whose welfare and safety may be at risk.

Our Staff Nurses work as members of the Health Visiting Team, maintaining a public health focus under the supervision of a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN), to deliver the Healthy Programme in various settings including the home and community venues, as delegated by the Health Visitor. All work is completed within the designated competency framework.

Base

Our Healthy Family Teams support our Wiltshire-wide service. You will be based at one of the three main hubs in Wiltshire and supported by agile and mobile working.

Main duties of the job

• Work within the boundaries of the Staff Nurse Competency framework.
• Collaborate with the Health Visiting Team to achieve Key Performance Indicators.
• Partner with children and families to identify health needs early and provide appropriate support for positive outcomes.
• Work in partnership with Early Years Services, such as Children's Centres and Early Years settings.
• Support infant feeding and parent-infant relationships, adhering to Baby Friendly Initiative Standards.
• Complete Family Health Needs assessments for mandated reviews and update the SCPHN (Health Visitor) with any concerns.
• Provide support to families using the Solihull Foundation Approach and Five to Thrive trauma-informed practices in behavioral management, parenting skills, and care delivery to vulnerable families as identified by the SCPHN Health Visitor.
• Offer ongoing support and interventions to assigned families, updating the SCPHN health visitor on significant changes.
