A leading healthcare facility in the UK is seeking a Critical Care Nurse to organise and deliver patient care within the critical care unit. Responsibilities include coordinating care delivery, ensuring effective communication, and maintaining accurate patient records. Ideal candidates will have critical care nursing experience and a solid understanding of clinical management plans. This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care in challenging situations.
Organises the daily operation of the critical care unit to meet service needs. Coordinates care delivery with the ability to adapt care pathways within clinical management plans.
Responsible for patient care during shifts, developing and implementing patient care pathways, especially as patient dependency levels change.
Performs clinical care in accordance with the NMC code of conduct, trust and unit guidelines, and clinical management plans agreed with primary clinicians.
Ensures effective communication among clinicians, healthcare professionals, patients, and relatives to foster excellent relationships. Uses verbal and non-verbal communication skills effectively.
Maintains specialist knowledge and clinical skills within critical care nursing, participating in direct patient care and evidence of PREP as required by the NMC. Demonstrates dexterity and physical endurance during clinical practice.
Applies theoretical knowledge to practice, utilizing analytical and judgmental skills to determine appropriate patient care. Maintains concentration during tasks, even in unpredictable situations.
Participates in quality initiatives and audits under supervision of senior staff.
Responsible for the safe use of medical devices within the critical care department during shifts.
Provides clinical supervision of all staff within the unit, including education, training, CPD, discipline, and sickness management.
Participates in resource management and maintains accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act and preparing care plans for effective patient care.
Engages in audits and research activities to meet organizational and unit requirements.
Provides support to staff, relatives, and patients during stressful or distressing circumstances.
Responsible for COSH within the unit, promoting a safe environment despite exposure to unpleasant working conditions.
