Staff Nurse
Band 5
37.5 hours per week

This is your chance to work in a friendly, professional, and supportive organization!

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 nurses who would like to become part of a brand new, purpose-built hospital in a city centre location.

Full-time and part-time hours will be considered, involving internal rotation from days to night shifts. The applicant is also expected to work bank holidays and weekends.

Ward 4D (formerly ward 5y) is a busy, ever-evolving adult gastroenterology ward with a range of patients of all ages and gastro medical conditions.

No previous experience is required, but it would be advantageous if applicants have some background in caring for adults in a hospital setting with gastrointestinal medical conditions.

The ward offers the opportunity to work within a respected multidisciplinary team and to pursue further study in the gastro field.

Our nursing team is expected to adhere to the trust's values and behaviors at all times. The ward sister expects all staff to work to the high standards set by the trust.

  • The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward manager/charge nurse.
  • Following successful completion of foundation gateway, take charge of the ward/department for a duty period.
  • Work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and carers, maintaining standards of nursing care.
  • Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care. Inform the nurse in charge of any changes affecting patient care.
  • Maintain nursing records according to NMC and Trust guidelines.
  • Contribute to improving patient care quality through Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking.
  • Respect patients' customs, values, and spiritual beliefs.
  • Provide information and support to patients and carers, ensuring all involved are aware of changes in the patient’s condition.
