The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. . Our main service locations are The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury, which together provide 99% of our activit ty. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute h tal services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care. During 2012/13 the Princess Royal Hospital became our main specialist centre for inpatient head and neck surgery with the establishment of a new Head and Neck ward and enhanced outpatient facilities. It also became our main centre for inpatient Women and Children’s services following the opening of the Shropshire Women and Children’s Centre in September 2014. During 2012/13, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital became our main specialist centre for acute surgery with a new Surgical Assessment Unit, Surgical Short Stay Unit and Ambulatory Care facilities. Together the hospitals have just over 700 beds and assessment & treatment trolleys. Alongside our services at The Princess Royal and Royal Shrewsbury, we also provide community and outreach services such as: Consultant-led outreach clinics (including the Wrekin Community Clinic at Euston House in Telford); Midwife-led units at Ludlow, Bridgnorth and Oswestry; Renal dialysis outreach services at Ludlow Hospital; Community services including Midwifery, Audiology and Therapies.ospi

Exciting opportunity! The Endoscopy Unit at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital are looking to recruit a Band 5 Staff Nurse / ODP to join their team.

Candidates should have a professional nursing/ODP qualification, drive and enthusiasm, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and in return we will be able to offer you support towards your professional development.

The service is expanding in the near future following a recent upgrade to our facilities, with new procedures & learning opportunities.

The Endoscopy Unit is currently open 08:00 - 18.00 Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays . We provide a comprehensive on call service for the out of hours work, and the successful applicant will be required to participate in this once fully trained.

Cross site working will be required, ability to drive or to travel to The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford is essential.

The pre-assessment of patients from clinic that require an endoscopic procedure, providing skilled and considerate care during the patients admission; taking into account the patient's specific needs during the procedure; recovery and discharge; preparing the equipment and the environment to enable the procedures to be carried out to a high standard safely .

The unit currently provides a service for both out-patients and in-patients including the following procedures : Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy, Cystoscopy, PEG insertions, ERCP and EUS.
