Job description

We have an opportunity for Band 5 registered nurses to join our busy Emergency Department at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.

The Emergency Department has recently been rated 'Good' on the CQC new framework. The posts are advertised as an internal rotation over seven days, offering applicants the chance to develop their skills, talents, and competencies across key acute emergency areas.

We would be delighted to receive interest from experienced nurses, and from final year nursing students approaching qualification. As a new starter, you are supported by our ED Clinical Educator who will assist your induction, training, and development.

If you are attracted to a fast-paced, energetic nursing role at the heart of our hospital, please submit your application. Please note this vacancy may close before the advertised closing date if a sufficient number of suitable applications are received.

Candidates will be required to present original certificates for qualifications at interview stage. Full and part-time contracts will be considered.

Working with us

At WWL NHS Foundation Trust, we are proud that we care for our people as much as our patients, and that's why we'd love you to join us. Within our Emergency Department, we pride ourselves on providing outstanding nursing care.

Working with us would give you the opportunity to develop skills in resus, majors, triage, Initial Senior and Treatment, and rotation into the Urgent Treatment Centre to work alongside our Emergency Nurse Practitioners. We are excited to be able to offer newly appointed staff an Emergency Care Preceptorship under the guidance of our Clinical Educator.

We work closely with the ambulance service and specialist teams both within the hospital and in the community to ensure that we provide the right care, at the right time.

Responsibilities
  • Provide the highest standards of care to our patients.
  • Perform well within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Uphold NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Participate in all aspects of multidisciplinary audit.
  • Participate in the development and application of evidence-based practice within care delivery.
  • Complete patient documentation and undertake record keeping in a timely manner, ensuring that all entries are accurate and legible, and that information systems are maintained.
  • Provide information as required, including notification of adverse events and accidents to patients, staff, and visitors.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all qualified candidates. We are committed to placing the patient at the heart of everything we do, and in the provision of safe, effective care that acknowledges and ensures dignity.
