Our Dermatological Surgery and Laser Unit is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 5 Nurse to join our specialist team. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Administration and Discharge: Take responsibility for the admission, care, and discharge of patients undergoing dermatological surgeries (including biopsies and Mohs micrographic surgery), ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care.
Surgical Assistance: Assist in performing dermatological surgeries, including biopsies and Mohs micrographic surgery, providing support to the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient procedures.
Laser Therapy Assistance: Assist in the delivery of laser therapy treatments for conditions such as vascular lesions and scarring, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients throughout the treatment process.
Audit and Quality Improvement: Contribute to audits and quality improvement projects, actively seeking opportunities to enhance service delivery and patient care within the unit.
Patient Safety and Wellbeing: Recognise and avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of patients. Ensure that care is delivered in a manner that prioritizes patient safety, comfort, and dignity.
Nursing Assessments and Care Planning: Recognise significant observations and use these to initiate nursing assessments, develop personalized care plans, and implement effective nursing interventions.
Professional Accountability: Be fully accountable for your nursing practice in line with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. Take responsibility for sustaining and improving your knowledge, skills, and professional competence.
Health and Safety Awareness: Ensure adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act, with a thorough understanding of its implications. Follow departmental policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff.
