The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide a safe, cost-effective, and efficient care environment for patients, relatives, and carers. You will be expected to function clinically within the Day Theatres and ward from admission through to discharge. You will participate in the training of junior staff and continue your personal and professional development by rotating within the perioperative department. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are vital for this role, including with all levels of staff, patients, and relatives, considering impairments, levels of consciousness, and language barriers. You will be required to adhere to local policies, guidelines, and SOPs to maintain high standards of quality care within the department.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, proactive, and highly motivated practitioner to join our Day Surgery Unit (Theatres) at Ashford and St Peters NHS Foundation Trust. We seek candidates with excellent communication skills, a desire to learn, and a passion to develop and improve. Previous experience in theatre practice or other nursing specialties is welcome, including those newly qualified with an interest in Day Surgery Theatres, as training will be provided.
The DSU includes an admission area, ward areas A and B, and two Operating Theatres used for various surgical specialties, including General, Vascular, Urology, Orthopaedic/Trauma, Oral, ENT, Gynaecology, and Pain Management Treatment. The unit also has a Recovery Room with six trolley spaces. As a team member, you will have access to diverse learning opportunities, starting with rotations across different areas to develop competencies. We offer in-house training and support attendance at conferences and off-site training, with links to several universities.
