Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 nurse for critical care in Blackburn. The post holder will assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care for critically ill patients, working to provide an integrated critical care service.

You will maintain NMC registration and comply with statutory requirements while supporting a client-centred approach and effective communication with patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care for a span of duty, ensuring appropriate delivery and record keeping.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and prioritise emergency and urgent care appropriately.
• Ensure effective communication with the patient and their significant others in sensitive situations while maintaining confidentiality.
• Work with other MDT professionals to meet patient needs (e.g., Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Dietetics).
• Arrange admissions and discharges of patients in accordance with unit practice.
• Organise transport for off-unit procedures (e.g., CT Scan).
• Record and report complaints to senior nurses as required.
