Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Critical Care Unit at University Hospital Ayr on a permanent basis. The role involves caring for patients requiring level 2 care in an 8 bedded unit and coordinating with transfer to Crosshouse CCU when necessary.

The post offers learning and development opportunities, support to obtain National Care Competencies, ALS, and ongoing professional development, with full training provided.

Qualifications

• The post holder should be a registered general nurse with current NMC registration.
• Experience in the acute setting is essential.
• Experience in critical care would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients in the 8 bedded surgical and medical level 2 unit.
• Support transfer of level 3 patients to Crosshouse CCU when needed.
• Participate in learning and development to achieve National Care Competencies and critical care qualifications.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse - Critical Care based at University Hospital Ayr. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours

2 Posts - 36 hours per week.

What You Will Do

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic band 5 registered general nurse to become part of the team at our Ayr Critical Care Unit. The unit is an 8 bedded surgical and medical combined unit providing care for patients requiring level 2 care. The unit also has a stabilisation bay to accommodate level 3 patients’ short term, requiring transfer to Crosshouse Critical Care.

We have a number of learning and development opportunities available within the unit. You will be supported to obtain your National Care Competencies to ensure safe, effective patient centred care is provided at all times. Furthermore, we offer opportunities for staff to obtain critical care qualifications, obtain ALS and expand your continuing professional development.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post

The post holder should be a registered general nurse with current a NMC registration. Experience in the acute setting is essential. Experience in critical care would be advantageous but is not essential as full training and support will be provided.
