We are currently looking for Band 5 Nurses to come and join our team on Courtauld ward, our 23-bedded elective orthopaedic ward , based at Braintree Community Hospital.

Our ward prides itself in providing a high standard of patient care, experience, and quality service. Our team is friendly, supportive, vibrant and dynamic; everyone is encouraged to participate as a member of the team in developing their nursing skills. We offer a structured competency programme and support to complete mandatory training. We also apply for postgraduate courses as they become available.

We hope to attract a wide range of experience for the post; we welcome applicants that are newly qualified or have experience in different areas who would like to join our team therefore previous orthopaedic experience is preferred but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Your role will be to provide a high standard of individualized care to patients, whilst maintaining at all times their privacy and dignity, assessing care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care and contributing to supporting the Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse.

You will support the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness in their own clinical area, communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, their relatives/carers, nursing colleagues and members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure care is delivered in an accurate and efficient manner whilst e stablishing and maintaining good communication with the ward/department administrative, housekeeping and domestic staff.

You will become an effective team member who will consistently organise and deliver individualized patient care, ensuring patients’ physical, social and psychological needs are met whilst supporting Nurse Led Discharge within area of responsibility and actively participate in discharging/ transferring ‘Medically fit’ patients to more appropriate settings.

Please note our shift patterns are: Night – 19.15 – 07.45, Long day – 07.00 – 20.00
