Job description

Do you want to give outstanding care every time? Do you want to feel really proud of where you work? If you want to consistently deliver the fundamentals of patient care and ensure that improvements we make are sustained in the long term, then we want to work with you.

We have a full-time opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join us in the Specialist Medicine Division on McEntee, an 18-bedded purpose-built infectious diseases unit that specialises in the care of patients with transmissible diseases including HIV/AIDS, TB, and imported infections such as Malaria. You will gain experience in caring for patients with complex needs who can be acutely unwell.

With a variety of career progression opportunities—from Clinical Ward Manager, Practice Educator, Matron, Nurse Practitioner, to Clinical Nurse Specialist roles—where do you see yourself?

Responsibilities include:
  1. Planning the delivery of patient care and taking responsibility for implementing and evaluating the care provided.
  2. Using available electronic systems to provide care and ensure safety for our patients.
  3. Providing advice and education to patients, staff, and learners within the directorate as required.
  4. Prioritising your own workload and that of team members such as learners and Healthcare Assistants.
  5. Developing communication networks across specialties and throughout the multidisciplinary team.
  6. Fostering a mentoring environment in line with our teaching hospital.
  7. Carrying out nursing care to the highest possible standard according to Trust Policies and Clinical Guidelines.
  8. Administering patient medication according to Trust Policy, including intravenous medication.
