If so, an opportunity has arisen for you to join our dynamic team. We are seeking a friendly, self-motivated and dynamic individual to join our team providing clinical care within our Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit (SSPAU) at Northumbria Hospital. The SSPAU includes a Paediatric Emergency Department and a Short Stay Unit, providing care for children and young people across Northumberland and North Tyneside.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and expert clinical practitioner in the acute care of children, young people and their families. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The Children's Emergency Care Unit and 14 bedded short stay facility caters for children aged 0-16 years who require emergency assessment and treatment with a 24 hour inpatient facility if required.

We also provide support to medical staff in clinic and day case settings at North Tyneside General Hospital and Wansbeck General Hospital.

Successful candidates will be able to access preceptorship, clinical supervision and a suite of training and development opportunities to equip them to work in an emergency care environment and further their careers.

Job responsibilities
  1. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
  2. To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.
  3. To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  4. To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
  5. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams.
