Job description

Full time 37.5 hours per week. Fixed Term or Secondment for 8 months.

An opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join our team for 8 months to cover maternity leave.

About the Unit

The Churchill unit is a friendly environment providing oncology outpatient clinics and outpatient chemotherapy delivery. The department also undertakes CVAD care, blood transfusions, and other supportive activities.

International Nurses

The Trust values international nurses and supports overseas nurses in gaining full registration in the UK (via OSCE). Currently, we only recruit internationally from candidates with full NMC registration. We will advertise future opportunities for international nurses when support is available.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Work as part of the chemotherapy team, undertaking phlebotomy, cannulation, and administering intravenous and subcutaneous chemotherapy.
  2. Support oncology clinics and assist visiting Consultant Oncologists, often without direct supervision.
  3. Administer chemotherapy to patients, ensuring safety and protocol adherence.
  4. Assist and support the Macmillan Chemotherapy Coordinator and Chemotherapy Nurse Specialist during clinics and activities.
  5. Participate in organizing and delivering patient care to maintain high standards.
Candidate Requirements
  • Motivated nurse with relevant experience and training in chemotherapy treatments, or willing to undergo training.
  • Proven team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills.
  • Good time management and flexible working approach.
