Job description

Staff Nurse - Cardiovascular and Thoracic
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust

We are looking for highly motivated Staff Nurses, who have experience in a ward setting, to join our nursing team on E3 and E4.

E3 Green is a 24 bedded ward that specialises in caring for both cardiology and cardiac surgery patients, which gives staff the opportunity for a wide-ranging experience of caring for patients with heart disease. Our team works in collaboration with E3 Blue, our neighbouring ward, having a combined leadership and senior team, which means you have a wide support network. We receive patients directly from Cardiac High Dependency (CHDU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), as well as elective cases and transfers from other hospitals.

E4 is a 20 bedded Thoracic ward that cares for patients requiring thoracic investigation and surgery who are admitted on either an elective or emergency basis. Examples of patients who are admitted to E4 include people with lung cancer requiring surgical intervention for diagnosis and/or treatment, people suffering from recurrent pleural effusions and recurrent pneumothoraces, and patients following thoracic traumas which are admitted on an emergency basis.
