Staff Nurse - Burns Unit (Ward 4D) - FTC

The closing date is 23 September 2026

An exiting opportunity has arisen on the Burns Centre at Whiston Hospital. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals, with a passion for excellence within the delivery of patient care. Professional development is supported within a friendly, dynamic team structure.

Fixed Term Maternity Cover until July 2027

Part Time 34.5 Hours

Mersey Regional Burn Centre provides care to patients who have sustained burns. The unit has a large catchment area which includes as far away as North Wales and the Isle of Man. It serves a population of 4 million people.

An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.

Due to the short term nature and part time hours of the role, the successful candidate must have existing right to work in the UK, at the time of application. Candidates who do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application will not progress through the shortlisting stage.

Main duties of the job
  • To develop the skills to care for acutely unwell patients.
  • Liaise with senior Medical/Medical staff to provide a high quality service to patients and their families.
  • Offer advice / support to staff as required.

We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Qualifications
  • 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma)

Knowledge & Experience
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code
  • Experience of working in a clinical environment
  • Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • An understanding of national, regional and local NHS issues
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
