Job description

Applications are invited from suitably experienced Nurses to join the Emergency Department Team on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join their busy A&E team.

The Hospital's Emergency Department is a small, busy department, treating 19,000 patients per year from the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, and Herm, with demand increasing during the holiday season.
This is a Consultant-led department with a multidisciplinary team comprising doctors, nurses, radiographers, healthcare assistants, porters, and reception staff.
The St John Emergency Ambulance Service charity operates Guernsey's 24/7 paramedic response and non-emergency patient transport service.

Please note: Guernsey has adopted the AfC banding system but has applied its own salary scale.
The current Band 5 salary range is £38,744 to £49,970, plus an annual bonus of £1,605 and higher unsocial hours enhancements; 36% evening/Saturday and 72% Sunday/Bank Holiday.

Annual leave starts at 36 days and can go up to 42 days, with full credit for NHS service for annual and sick leave.

The island of Guernsey has a population of 65,000. It boasts some of Britain's finest and best-kept beaches, an especially mild and sunny climate, and a historic harbor town in St. Peter's Port, the island's capital.

This unique integrated health service delivers a diverse range of services, including diagnosing and treating patients at the island's acute hospital complex and supporting people within the wider community.
Guernsey provides excellent emergency care, supported by modern equipment, and relies on A&E nurses recruited to a high standard.

Person requirements:
- Registered Nurse with full NMC registration.
- One year of current or recent UK-based post-registration experience in an A&E or Minor Injuries setting.

The benefits of working in Guernsey include:
- A higher-than-UK salary.
- A generous bonus scheme: £1,605 annually and an additional £3,000 upon completing 2 and 4 years (ongoing annual bonus thereafter).
- A flat rate of 20% income tax.
- No council tax or VAT.
- A relocation payment of £5,000.
- Three months' initial free accommodation.
- On-site staff accommodation or a generous allowance for private rental.
- A continental lifestyle, friendly people, and very low crime rates.
