The Day Surgery Unit (DSU) at the New Victoria Hospital and GGH Theatre suite are looking for an admission and discharge nurse to join the team.
Day Surgery and GGH theatres are fast paced environments and collaborative working is requisite as the successful candidate may require to work in multiple areas during their shift.
Both these units are friendly and promotes ongoing personal and professional development.
GGH theatre suite consists of 13 theatres covering a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Brachytherapy, Oncoplastic/Breast Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedic elective/trauma and Interventional Radiology. Previous experience within the peri- operative environment, is a definite advantage however not essential as the department offers team support and continuing education opportunities.
The New Victoria Hospital is a 48 bed, Nurse led, admission and discharge area, which caters for a variety of surgical specialities. This post takes part in a rota which covering from 0730hrs to 2000hrs Monday to Friday, however this is subject to change. This is a dynamic clinical area with a high turnover of patients You will be a First Level Registered Nurse trained in general nursing or adult nursing. Experience in a Surgical Specialty is desirable, however training will be provided to the successful candidate to become a skilled member of the Team and the opportunity to rotate as necessary to support the 12 bedded overnight surgical bed ward during daytime hours. You will be expected to provide the highest standard of specialist patient care without direct supervision. The post holder should be a registered nurse who is highly motivated and enthusiastic to be part of this team. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and follow standards/protocols in order to give a quality service to patients You will be supported in expanding your knowledge and skills by our departmental practice development staff. The ability to work on your own initiative but also as part of an integrated team is required. Furthermore, you will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service. As part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, evidence of current NMC registration will be required prior to start date. You should therefore note candidates who are unable to provide confirmation of current NMC registration, in line with projected start date for this post, may not be shortlisted
