Job overview

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join us on Ward 5 Elective Orthopaedics at The Princess Royal Hospital. This new ward provides excellent patient-centred care for patients undergoing Elective Orthopaedic surgery. We are looking to expand our team. You will be part of a team of staff working to support the patient journey throughout the Enhanced Recovery Pathway.

The successful applicant will find this role challenging, exciting, and rewarding. Surgical/Orthopaedic experience is preferable, along with post-registration experience. We wish you every success with your application and look forward to welcoming you to our team.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensure patients are cared for in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner. Admit, recover, and discharge patients undergoing elective Orthopaedic surgery.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the smooth running of the ward, maintaining high standards, effective communication, and adherence to health and safety and cleaning standards.
  • Act as an accountable and professional registered adult nurse, following the NMC code.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Administer medication under prescription once competencies are completed.
  • Monitor patients and escalate signs of deterioration promptly.
  • Identify areas for quality improvement.
  • Escalate concerns regarding patient care when standards are not met.
