10 x 8-hour shift with 15 minutes paid break and 30 minutes unpaid break over 14 days

or

3 x 13.5 hour shifts with 2 x 15 minutes break and 2 x 30-minute unpaid breaks worked over 7 days

Both shift patterns to include working alternate weekends. There is an expectation that the applicant may be required to work some nights and this will be no more than 1 week in 4 of 3 nights.

Rowans Hospice is a charity that provides free care and support to adults and their families living in the Portsmouth and South-East Hampshire region who have a life-limiting illness. Established in 1994, our income is generated by ongoing support of the local community, donations, legacies, fundraising and through our retail shops.

The Role

The Staff Nurse role will work across the In-Patient and Rowans Hospice Service, which are led by the Ward Manager who is responsible to the Clinical Director. The role is based at Rowans Hospice, Purbrook.

The post holder is responsible for contributing to and the implementing of programmes of care in association with the sister. The post holder is also expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and to supervise, where necessary, other qualified and unqualified staff within the primary nursing team. To ensure continuity of set programmes of care in the absence of the primary nurse.

We are seeking an experienced RGN registered nurse, who can demonstrate leadership skills and use of a palliative care approach to patient care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with sound management and decision-making experience are key to this role.
