Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available to supplement the existing team within our Supported Discharge Unit at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for an enthusiastic registered nurse who is keen to enhance and develop their clinical and management skills in a fast-paced, nurse- and doctor-led unit within the acute hospital setting.

In this role, there is an expectation of collaborative working with MDT colleagues, including physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We also work very closely with the Health and Social Care Partnership and social work services to ensure that patients' journeys and discharges are safe and meet their specific needs.

The Supported Discharge Unit excels in facilitating transfers of care to other care environments and in supporting patients returning to their own homes, ensuring that individual needs are prioritised.
The ideal candidate should have a commitment to patient-centred care and effective team working, with excellent communication skills.

There will be opportunities to participate in the development of care pathways and to further enhance personal clinical and leadership skills.

The post holder will be expected to ensure that safe and effective care is delivered, enhancing the patient experience and contributing to the organisation's objectives.

Post-registration experience is desirable, and an ability to demonstrate clinical and professional practice development through both experience and theoretical knowledge is desirable. An understanding of the complexities of caring for individuals with acute medical and chronic illnesses is also desirable.

This is a full-time position, requiring 37 hours per week, and will involve a rotational schedule that includes days, nights, and weekend shifts.

For informal enquiries contact Senior Charge Nurse Lisa Herd on 01592 643355 ex 28648 or lisa.herd@nhs.scot.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
