Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Glenrothes Hospital Ward 1 for a Staff Nurse to join our established nursing team. Ward 1 is a 17 bedded GP led ward that cares for adults who require complex discharge planning.

You will be expected to ensure safe and effective care that enhances the patient experience. You will be able to demonstrate high professional standards of care and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team setting.

Good decision making skills in clinical practice and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

You must possess evidence of effective team working and excellent interpersonal

skills, and be committed to patient focused care.

A passion for the ethos of Community Hospitals is essential. You should also be able to demonstrate a commitment to your ongoing professional and personal development and education.

For informal enquiries please contact Senior Charge Nurse Frances Gallo on 01592 740226

Please note the salary for this post is pro rata to part time hours.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Hiring Manager.

Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team. For more details on these changes please visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
