Job description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen within the Queen Margaret Community Hospital for a motivated and enthusiastic band 5 registered nurse with a genuine interest in caring for older adults and providing them with a positive experience during their inpatient stay.

Queen Margaret Hospital has three older patient wards. This Band 5 post is a permanent position to the Queen Margaret Hospital older adult wards and will be in ward 8 which is a 14 bedded ward caring for older people who require complex discharge planning following an acute illness.

We can offer a good working environment within a large multidisciplinary team who are keen to support the educational and training needs of our staff. The wards have a culture of continuous quality improvement and are undertaking many initiatives to improve patient safety and support patients with cognitive impairment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, person-centred nursing care to older adults during their inpatient stay.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and coordination of care for patients after acute illness.
  • Work within a large multidisciplinary team to support education, training and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support patients with cognitive impairment and participate in initiatives to improve patient safety.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Band 5 registered nurse with a genuine interest in caring for older adults.
  • Requirement to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
  • UK right to work or eligibility to work in the UK (pre-employment checks will be carried out).
  • Information on visa sponsorship may be considered in certain circumstances where applicable; employer sponsorship is subject to licencing and salary thresholds.
