Job summary

Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust invites a Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) to join the Diamond Activity and Therapeutic Services in Doncaster. You will work with senior staff to deliver person-centred care per individual care plans and agreed activities, with ongoing CPD support.

The post is based on Monday–Friday with core hours 08:30–16:30, offering supervision, training, and a supportive team focused on dignity and respect for service users with learning

Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) with registration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with professionals, services, clients & carers.
  • Flexible, patient-centred care approach and commitment to CPD.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in therapeutic and activity sessions and day-to-day running of the service.
  • Assess, plan and deliver personalised care including hygiene and nutrition.
  • Assist clients who are wheelchair users, using hoists when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and promote dignity, respect and privacy.
  • Support healthy lifestyle choices and safeguarding of clients.
  • Coordinate shifts with regular clinical and managerial supervision.

Job description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for someone with an interest in supporting people with a learning disability to join the team at the Diamond Activity and Therapeutic Services in Doncaster.

You will work alongside senior staff & be supported to deliver person centred care in accordance with support plans & agreed activities.

Diamond Activity & Therapeutic Services is part of the larger Learning Disability Service in Doncaster and works closely with the staff in our community learning disability teams.

Essential - successful candidates will be A Registered Nurse (Learning Disabilities) an able to show a genuine interest in working with people with a learning disability. Excellent interpersonal skills will be required to communicate with a range of professionals, services, clients & carers. A flexible attitude is imperative, as well as an understanding of person-centred care and treating clients with dignity. We offer the opportunity to work within a supportive organisation, to develop a variety of clinical skills & experience. You will be fully supported in your role having the opportunity to access continuous professional development.

The current core hours of service operation are Monday - Friday between the hours of 0830-1630.

To actively participate in therapeutic & activity sessions; be responsible for Day-to-Day running of service.

To participate in assessment, planning & delivery of personalised care, meeting personal hygiene and nutritional needs of clients. Several of our clients are wheelchair users and there is a requirement to use hoists and push wheelchairs.

To ensure the clients personal information is always treated with the strictest of confidence.

Assist in promoting a healthy lifestyle, respecting the service user's choices and beliefs, promoting dignity, respect, and privacy where necessary.

To protect all individuals from any form of abuse, either physical, psychological, financial, sexual or any instance of intimidation. Any suspected abuse to be brought to the attention of the Trust.

To be alert of any changes in clients i.e. in health or behaviour to ensure appropriate interventions are undertaken
