A premier UK children's healthcare provider in Birmingham is seeking a band 5 paediatric nurse to join their esteemed nursing team. This role involves delivering high standards of care to children with cancer and other blood disorders, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the nursing team at one of the UK’s largest Paediatric Haematology /Oncology centres, and to make a real difference to the lives of families affected by childhood cancer and non-malignant haematological conditions across the West Midlands and beyond.
BSC outpatients is our oncology and haematology outpatient department. It is a busy department based in our bespoke state of the art building, waterfall house. The department provides clinics, planned day case treatments, supportive and emergency care, alongside procedures and treatments in our integrated theatre for children and young people aged 0-18 years with cancer, leukaemia, and other blood disorders. The Service runs Monday to Friday 8am until 730pm.
We are looking for an experienced band 5 paediatric nurse who is enthusiastic, motivated, passionate, committed and have a natural drive to deliver high standards of compassionate care to join our team. To ensure patients with a diagnosis of cancer and non malignant haematological conditions receive specialist care and age appropriate support throughout their treatment and follow up. To advocate for patients and their families, working closely with the multidisciplinary team
To deliver high standards of care in partnership with children, young people and families in a safe and professional environment
To be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care to children and young people and their families/carers
To positively contribute to the achievement of local (ward) and Trust wide objectives
After a period of preceptorship and development - To supervise and teach junior staff and students, and to take charge of the unit in the absence of senior colleagues
To adhere to Trust policies and procedures
