Lead Backend Engineers (Platform Experience & Data Warehousing teams)

Location: UK, Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, Finland

numi is proud to have partnered with a leader in data integration technology, providing excellent experiences for their clients, including some of the biggest names in the industry.

We are seeking experienced Lead Backend Engineers (PHP) to join either the Platform Experience or Data Warehousing teams.

• The Platform Experience team focuses on optimizing end-to-end platform journeys and building impactful customer experiences. They are currently developing a data visualization tool (dashboards) and building features primarily from scratch.
• The Data Warehousing team handles data storage and transfer solutions, helping users streamline data transfers to data warehouses/datalakes and improving internal storage. This involves scaling, refactoring, and enhancing complex data transfer systems managing large data volumes.

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will lead the development of new features, ensure high code quality, provide technical guidance, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers.

You will also identify and address system bottlenecks, improve monitoring, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. For the Data Warehousing team, you'll also work on improving system resilience and exploring AI integrations for data analytics.

You're the Lead we're looking for if you have:

• 7+ years of experience tackling backend challenges with PHP.
• A proven track record of leading technical teams and setting strategic directions.
• A strong understanding of system architecture and elegant design principles.
• Deep knowledge of PHP core and best practices.
• Expertise in connecting systems via APIs and optimizing databases, including data warehousing and lakes.
• (For Data Warehousing) Experience building robust data pipelines and handling large data scales.
• A commitment to code excellence and thorough testing.
• Skills in securing systems and using monitoring tools to ensure smooth operation.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• A passion for collaborating with product and design teams to build impactful solutions.

Bonus skills: Knowledge of infrastructure tools (e.g., Kubernetes, GitHub Actions) and proficiency with AI tools.

Success in 6-12 months includes:

• Platform Experience: Building and designing significant parts of new features, demonstrating technical leadership, ensuring high quality and performance, and fostering effective team collaboration.
• Data Warehousing: Contributing to refactoring and scaling data transfer systems, improving resilience and performance, resolving complex data bugs, enhancing monitoring, leading key initiatives, and guiding architectural decisions.
