Lead Backend Engineers (Platform Experience & Data Warehousing teams) ???

Location: UK, Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, Spain, Portugal, Finland ?

numi are proud to have partnered with a front runner in data integration technology providing fantastic experience for their clients (who are some of the biggest names in the space)!

We are looking for experienced Lead Backend Engineers (PHP) to join either Platform Experience or Data Warehousing teams.

• The Platform Experience team focuses on optimising end-to-end platform journeys and building impactful customer experiences. They are currently developing a data visualisation tool (dashboards) and build features primarily from scratch.
• The Data Warehousing team is responsible for data storage and transfer solutions, helping users streamline data transfers to data warehouses/datalakes and improving internal storage. This involves scaling, refactoring, and enhancing a complex data transfer system handling large data volumes.

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will lead the development of new features, drive high code quality, provide technical guidance, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers.

You will also identify and address system bottlenecks, improve monitoring, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. For the Data Warehousing team, you'll also be involved in improving system resilience and exploring AI integrations for data analytics.

You're the Lead we're looking for if you've got:

• 7+ years conquering backend challenges with PHP as a key weapon.
• A track record of steering technical teams and setting the course.
• A sharp mind for system architecture and elegant design.
• A deep-seated understanding of PHP's core and best practices.
• Expertise in connecting systems via APIs and optimizing databases (including data warehousing/lakes).
• (For Data Warehousing) Experience building robust data pipelines and handling serious data scale.
• An unwavering commitment to code excellence and thorough testing.
• A knack for securing systems and leveraging monitoring to keep things running smoothly.
• Top-notch problem-solving and clear communication skills.
• A passion for collaborating with product and design to build impactful solutions.

Bonus skills: Understanding of infrastructure tools (e.g., Kubernetes, GitHub Actions) and proficient use of AI tools.

Success in 6-12 months....?

• Platform Experience: Building and designing significant parts of new features, demonstrating technical leadership, ensuring high quality and performance, and contributing to effective team collaboration.
• Data Warehousing: Significantly contributing to the refactoring and scaling of the data transfer system, improving resilience and performance, tackling complex data discrepancy bugs, and enhancing monitoring. Leading key initiatives and guiding the team on architectural decisions.
