Main duties of the jobIf you're a motivated doctor looking to develop your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment, wed love to hear from you. Total renumeration is £82,238 to £135,870 (for 10 PAs plus 4 PAs on-call)
The postholder will:
Record clinical activity accurately and contemporaneously on the electronic patient record system.
Ensure effective liaison between mental health services and the acute hospital, and with other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors as appropriate.
Deputise/cross cover from time to time for absent colleagues and colleagues on annual leave.
Undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
Participate in the out of hours on-call rota up to a maximum frequency of 1 in 6
Participate in the in hours on call rota
Attend regular supervision with their supervising consultant.
Participate in annual appraisal and revalidation.
Participate in the academic programme of the organisation, including the weekly mental health education programme.
Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, and the Jersey Care Commission.
Hopefully obtain approval under the Jersey Mental Health Law approval process or work towards this if not immediately eligible.
Abide by professional codes of conduct including the Royal College of Psychiatrists Good Psychiatric Practice and the General Medical Councils Good Medical Practice.
About usAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic staffgrade doctor to join our adult inpatient service on Orchard House based at StSaviours hospital.
Orchard Ward consists of 15 adult acute beds (including anextra-care area). It is a brand-new facility with ensuite rooms, activityspaces and a specialist corridor for vulnerable patients. It is for people aged between 18 and 65, whosuffer from severe mental illness and require inpatient admission. Our aim isto help services users achieve their potential by promoting recovery andmaintaining wellbeing. Our service users come from a variety of culturalbackgrounds and often have challenging and complex needs. The inpatient team is a multidisciplinaryteam, which includes doctors (consultant, Staff grade (this post) and F2), aclinical psychologist, nurses, a social worker, occupational therapists, healthcare assistants and administrative staff.
The post holder will undertake psychiatric assessments andphysical examinations on admission. Theywill be involved in the ongoing multidisciplinary ward reviews and responsiblefor discharge summaries. They will provide daily input into the inpatient care.They will offer day to day supervision to the F2 doctor who will also beinvolved in the above tasks.

There will be a minimum of one hour per week protected time for personalsupervision. Doctors have an allocated study leave budget to which staff gradedoctors may apply.

- At least 3 years post foundation doctor experience in psychiatry.
- Knowledge and recent work within UK hospital systems (or equivalent) excluding clinical attachment work.
