Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Staff Grade Doctor to join our team. The successful candidate will support our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing clinical and surgical assistance. This role requires a compassionate professional with a deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.

Job responsibilities
  • Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with existing and undiagnosed glaucoma and other ocular conditions.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as visual field assessments, OCT, Volk, CCT, and gonioscopy.
  • Develop management plans for glaucoma referrals.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
  • Participate in team meetings and service development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Educate and support patients and families regarding glaucoma management and treatment options.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Medical degree from a recognized university.
  • Valid GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • Experience in ophthalmology, especially in managing glaucoma cases.
  • Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
