Optegra has an exciting new opportunity for a Staff Grade Doctor with experience in ophthalmology, particularly in managing glaucoma cases, to join our supportive team at Nottingham Eye Hospital. This is a part-time role, 2 days per week (20 hours), offering a great chance to be part of a growing business with fully funded training and development programs.

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Staff Grade Doctor to support our NHS medical glaucoma service, providing clinical and surgical assistance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, evaluate, and manage patients with glaucoma and other ocular conditions
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, Volk, CCT, and gonioscopy
  • Develop management plans for glaucoma referrals
  • Provide pre- and post-operative patient care
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans
  • Participate in team meetings and service development
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance
  • Educate patients and families about glaucoma management and treatments
Qualifications and Experience
  • Medical degree from a recognized university
  • Valid GMC registration with UK practice license
  • Experience in ophthalmology, especially glaucoma, with ability to work independently
  • NHS glaucoma clinic experience
  • Gonioscopy and SLT laser experience
  • Excellent diagnostic, clinical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
