An opportunity has arisen for a Firearms Licensing Administration Assistant to work at HQ with the Firearms Licensing Team which is part of Operational Support.
The role is a Full Time Maternity Cover working Flexi Time on Monday to Friday at HQ, to provide a comprehensive support service as directed by the Team Leader ensuring services are provided to the Constabulary Firearms Licensing unit and also to Firearms Licensing Applicants, dealers, gun clubs, other police forces and agencies. This could be via telephone, e-mail or mail into the Licensing Unit, personal visits by officers or applicants, ensuring information is passed to the appropriate member of the team. Responsible for maintaining paper-based and electronic records, ensuring changes are recorded in a timely manner.
It would be advantageous to have an understanding of legislation and Home Office /NPCC Guidance relating to application processes and procedures for firearms/shotgun certificates and permits, this will though be included as part of your role induction.
Financial dealing with fee's received on applications, renewals and variations of certificates, both physically and electronically, and liaising with Central Services and Finance Department.
Be involved in the preparation of letters to applicants, who have failed to comply with the requirements of the application process to ensure a positive resolution. Cancel certificates, move weapons from one certificate to another, move certificates to other forces with change of addresses, update where weapons have been destroyed, liaise with Firearms Enquiry Officers for inspections, grants and renewals. Use the NFLMS electronic diary to ensure matters are dealt with in a timely manner.

Also, there is sickness pay which you are entitled to which is full pay for a period of time during initial sickness. There is a gym you can join at HQ.
