Job summary

Syngenta Crop Protection is seeking a Staff Engineer in Screening Ops & Logistics to build applications supporting research workflows and logistics, at the intersection of advanced tech and agricultural R&D.

You will lead backend and frontend engineering, collaborate across teams, and own end-to-end technical solutions while mentoring others, with a focus on reliability and performance in a global, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in Python or Java backend engineering.
• Demonstrable experience in software architecture and integration patterns.
• Demonstrable experience in AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review.
• Demonstrable experience in React or Angular awareness.
• Demonstrable experience in quality, test and documentation standards.
• Demonstrable experience in screening and logistics workflow learning agility.
• Demonstrable experience in technical leadership without line authority.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Demonstrable experience in system design and building scalable solutions.
• Demonstrable experience in database design, optimization and performance tuning.
• Demonstrable experience in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead backend engineering in Python or Java to deliver scalable, durable outcomes.
• Define software architecture and integration patterns for reliable systems.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering with rigorous review to ensure quality.
• Develop frontend using React or Angular to deliver robust interfaces.
• Maintain quality, testing and documentation standards across projects.
• Own end-to-end screening and logistics systems, ensuring reliability at scale.
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices in backend design and code quality.
• Drive continuous improvements to reduce technical debt and boost performance.
• Communicate architectural decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
