La Fosse is recruiting a Staff Engineer to steer the technical direction of a consumer app, loyalty platform, website and click & collect for a major UK brand. You will own architecture decisions, set engineering standards and drive delivery across multiple squads without people management.

You will influence tech choices across .NET, Azure and AWS, with Braze, Talon.One or Sanity as bonus capabilities, and advance AI-enabled engineering across global teams.

Our client is one of the UK's best-known consumer brands: 1,600+ locations, millions of loyal app users and the backing of one of the world’s largest consumer groups. Digital is now at the heart of how customers order, earn rewards and engage with the brand, and they're investing heavily to make it best in class.

The technology function is growing fast, towards around 200 people, with a new HQ in Hertfordshire and an engineering hub in Europe expanding from 70 to 100 engineers. Now they need a Staff Engineer to be the technical force behind their consumer platforms.

The role:

• You'll own the technical direction of a consumer app, a loyalty platform, their website and click & collect. Every order, reward and promotion runs through what you shape.
• It's an individual contributor role, so there's no line management and no day-to-day coding. You're the technical authority across several squads.
• You'll work with Architecture at design stage and with engineering teams through delivery, making sure great ideas become great products.
• You'll shape what tech is adopted, how it's built and when it ships.
• The stack: NET, Azure and AWS, Braze, Talon.One and Sanity + native iOS and Android, .
• You'll lead the rollout of AI-assisted engineering across the teams.
• You'll work with technology teams across a global group, a scale few consumer businesses can offer.

What you'll bring

• 10+ years in software delivery, ideally with a mobile or web background
• Experience as a Lead Engineer, Staff/Principal Engineer or senior EM who wants to go deeper technically
• Full-stack understanding of how apps, APIs, platforms and tooling fit together
• .NET and Azure or AWS experience (Braze, Talon.One or Sanity is a bonus)
• Experience in consumer, retail, e-commerce, hospitality or loyalty, ideally
• Comfort setting standards and engineering metrics across in-house and partner teams
• A doer's mindset: you get things done and don't just talk about them

• UK: up to £132k base + 15% bonus (up to 30%).
