Job description

Company Mission & Product

Grasp's mission is to increase the rate humans learn by re-thinking online learning. Our first product, Grasp Concepts, enables students to disambiguate and learn concepts through great online explanations and is deployed with design partners including Imperial College London. Our second product, Grasp Pathways, decomposes learning goals and suggests flexible learning trajectories to reach them, using reputable learning resources like books and lectures, and is in private alpha.

Our products are currently all web apps, including one browser extension.

Staff Designer - Product/UX

You will work in a flat hierarchy with experienced research scientists, engineers, and a second designer, to create solutions to tricky problems for self-directed, adult learners.

Together with another designer, you will be proposing user experiences, creating and testing prototypes, and preparing high fidelity wireframes. You will also be involved in user research, testing, and GTM strategy.

Your colleagues will expect you to go about your work in a systematic and organised fashion, with an eye for edge cases.

You will need to master business domain knowledge to inform your solutions, like education practitioner insights and academic knowledge.

You will be free to use whatever tools you like to work effectively. We currently design with Figma and occasionally Balsamiq, as well as some AI tools/plugins. If you can code you are welcome to tinker yourself.

Team and Funding

We've raised millions of dollars from top tier investors including Balderton Capital, Mozilla (yes, Firefox), and Point9. Our founder Ed built the Payments and Trading products at Revolut alongside his bachelors and masters degrees. He was also one of a handful of investors at DST Global. Our team have backgrounds in elite institutions including Revolut, Huawei, Max-Planck Institute, Oxford, and Cambridge; with work so hard and important we cannot afford to work with anyone but the best.

Requirements

You...

  • have at least 10 years experience across UX, UI, product design, and GTM for web or mobile apps
  • have been the principal architect of large user experiences; you are the person in the team that has the whole system in your head and others come to for direction
  • are very familiar diagramming flows in a tool like draw.io
  • are experienced working in collaborative, highly iterative, cross-functional teams, sharing work daily
  • have a portfolio that provides strong evidence of all the above
  • are comfortable giving and receiving candid feedback
  • can facilitate design workshops

Benefits

  • Reasonable London salary
  • Employee options scheme (EMI)
  • Office-based team ("onsite")
  • Macbook Pro & Studio Display
  • Access to all Grasps learning tools for your personal self-study
  • Dinner/Breakfast
  • Statutory pension (NEST)
  • Super colleagues and mission
