What are we looking for?

The Staff Civil Engineer - Construction is responsible for performing a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

What you'll do:

1. Performs a variety of assignments that include independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment to make minor adoptions and modifications to these standards.
2. Performs preliminary report writing and review.
3. Reviews project plans and specifications prepared by others.
4. Attends client site meetings.
5. Communicates effectively with client and project teams.
6. Works on one or multiple projects at a time.
7. Trains Technicians.
8. May manage projects, oversee technicians, and review field and lab data.
9. Will work both in the field and laboratory regularly.
10. Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
11. Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (example: Soil, concrete, or other) and provides assessment of data through reporting.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from accredited engineering / ABET School required.
2. Civil / Geotechnical Engineering Degree highly preferred.
3. 2 to 4 years of construction materials testing, or geotechnical engineering experience is highly preferred.
4. EIT certification is highly preferred.
5. Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication.
6. Ability to periodically work off shifts and overtime.
7. May travel occasionally.
8. Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required.
9. Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
10. Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
11. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
12. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
13. Ability to climb and work at heights occasionally.
